MIRAL MOKHTAR
ميرال مختار

I grew up in Cairo, Egypt
My passion for art began at a young age.
As a child, I was surrounded by two grandmas who were artists inspiring my interest in fine art.
After many years of painting in watercolours, I moved forward, experimenting with abstracts in various mediums.
This pushed me to expand my horizons and tap into new areas of the painting that had not yet explored.
There were obvious freedom and personal expression with abstraction and it was then that I began to flourish.
I was deeply interested in the effects of colour, texture and the emotional response to strong composition and design.
In 2014 I studied art education at Helwan University.
Today, my work is a bold mix of styles, ranging from sleek and contemporary to organic. I bring a subtle and sophisticated feel to my paintings through a unique balance of color, composition, and texture.
Speaking about the difference between ancient Egyptians and Egyptians of today, women living in a patriarchal society, taboos, LGBT rights & human rights.
